My name is Jordan Stambaugh, and I'm a 25 year old designer based in Bellingham, Washington. After acquiring a digital media design degree at Western Washington University, I went on a bit of a quixotic journey: working for a software development company, designing for an AI startup, helping a non-profit, doing digital agency work and building my own design studio.
Fun Facts: When I’m not hunched over my computer making awesome projects come true for my clients, I’m hiking up a mountain to take star photos, making a (delicious) mess in the kitchen and traveling the world with my camera.
The early years were very illustration based so I have a foundation in being an artist first and foremost. When I decided I really wanted to get into the Design program in University, I didn't know this is when everything would change.
While my artistic abilities certainly help with the aesthetics of my design work, I have evolved to having a mind for design. I learned how to think about complex problems to offer the best solutions to my clients. This is why I'm a designer - I love solving problems for people and helping their businesses and ideas succeed.
To solve these complex problems, I had to teach myself a lot of crazy cool designy things. Coding, digital photography, digital image manipulation, time lapse photography, astrophotography, motion graphics, videography, video editing, typography, hand-lettering, calligraphy, website design, website development, printing techniques, branding, marketing, business, social media, drone piloting and more recently - how to design and develop mobile applications. Phew! Some people call me a Jack of all trades, master of some.
"Design is that thin layer that connects complexity to meaning."
"Art and design are completely different. Art is about making questions. Design is about making solutions."
